iOS 27.2 Is Out and Fixes the LumaBooth Printing Issues: Update Now

Update: Apple has now released iOS and iPadOS 27.2 to everyone, and it fixes both printing issues we reported. If you run LumaBooth on an iPad or iPhone, install the public 27.2 update and printing works normally again. You do not need the beta anymore.

What the Public iOS 27.2 Release Fixes

Two separate iOS 27 bugs were getting in the way of printing from LumaBooth. Both are resolved in 27.2:

  • AirPrint stopping after the first print (iOS 27.0). The first print after opening LumaBooth came out fine, then the next one never finished. This affected DNP printers on the DNP WCM Plus, Canon SELPHY printers on Wi-Fi, and Aircast, Airkonv and other AirPrint print servers.
  • The LumaBooth Printer Driver switch missing (iPadOS 27.2 beta). After updating to the beta, the switch disappeared from Settings > Apps > LumaBooth, so Direct USB Printing could not be turned on. It is back in 27.2.

Both were bugs in iOS itself, not in LumaBooth or your printer. We reported them to Apple, and Apple has now shipped the fix.

What To Do Before Your Next Event

  • Install the public iOS or iPadOS 27.2 update. Open Settings > General > Software Update and tap Update Now next to iOS 27.2 or iPadOS 27.2. Check that the version shown is 27.2 and not a “27.2 beta”. This resolves both issues.
  • Still on iOS 26? You can stay there or update to 27.2. Either one prints normally.
  • On the iOS 27.2 beta? Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and choose Off. Then install the public 27.2 release when it shows up under Software Update, so your iPad returns to regular updates. The USB printing bug was in the beta only.
  • On iOS 27.0 or 27.1? Install the public 27.2 update before your next event. Print a few photos in a row in LumaBooth afterward to confirm everything works.

Printing Options That Never Needed AirPrint

If you want a setup that does not depend on AirPrint at all, LumaBooth has two other ways to print: Direct USB Printing (DNP, Citizen or HiTi printer plugged straight into an iPad Pro or iPad Air with an M-series chip, LumaBooth 5.3 or later) and LumaBooth Assistant (shares the printer connected to your Windows or Mac computer with your iPad over your network).

Thanks For Your Patience

Thanks to everyone who sent us reports and test prints while we worked this out with Apple. Install the public iOS 27.2 update, and happy shooting!
